Rei Co-op Drypoint Gtx Jacket - Mens Review

I really similar this jacket. The Gore-Tex waterproofing and sealed zippers have kept me dry out when information technology was raining and the breathability has kept me cooler and dryer when I was on strenuous hikes. My concluding rain shell became a sauna nether similar circumstances. This is going to make a bang-up traveling jacket equally it will pack minor, is lightweight and looks good. It has kept me warm under cool conditions and it is roomy enough so that I tin can layer under it when it gets colder.

I alive in what is sometimes called an extreme weather country. We take super cold and super hot...in between we take wind and rain. This jacket is capable of treatment information technology all. I've worn it under my winter glaze for wind resistance and on a bit warmer days as my primary weather protection. Information technology keeps the current of air and pelting out, which is exactly what I need. I can't wait to try it in my cycling adventures in the bound.

I'm really impressed with this new jacket. Information technology fits well, has a actually solid, minimal design that hits the right spot between technical features features and off-trail fashion. I've had the jacket for about two weeks now and have worn it every mean solar day equally a winter layer for commuting by bicycle and pes. Haven't taken it backpacking withal, but information technology fits bang-up with a pack on and I await it to hold up well.

Reviews are outstanding, and it's easy to sympathise why. Tried it on adjacent with Interstellar, and Drypoint felt cooler and better on skin. One of the few jackets out today with Goretex Active. Everything bang-up for aerobic hikes in hilly terrain in current of air and rain, fifty-fifty in Summer. Very happy.

I take now had the jacket for most two weeks and love it. I live in a warm climate that has been cold and traveled to a cool climate that was warm while testing this jacket. Information technology has done a corking task in both! I have layered it with a down mid-weight and had plenty of room for good range of motion. I used information technology in San Diego every bit a wind breaker for cool mornings and evenings. I found that I was still wearing information technology long after the arctic was gone and the temps. were ascension. The pelting caught upward with me when I got dorsum abode and the combination of adjustments on the hood made for groovy protection without obstructing my vision. The construction is solid and the GORE-TEX 3-layer fabric has a groovy hand, keeps me dry out, and packs well. I have used other jackets that use the cadre venting through the pockets and the arrangement does the job for me. Thanks REI for the upgrade in conditions protection!

I researched many brands and models. This one seemed the best to endeavour. And boy was I right! 100% waterproof! I've been in four hr downpours and I accept been totally dry! I have never gotten wet inside. If you are agape that this jacket doesn't have Pit Zips, information technology would be nice but there is good ventilation. This jacket is amazing in high wind conditions! You tin't experience a affair! Very reliable! The hood is perfect and adjusts perfectly! It fits great on my frame (5' six" 180 lbs, waist 34-35). I got a Big so I could wear my North Face fluffy inner trounce for colder weather. The combination has kept me sooooo warm for unlimited hours outside in 29 degree weather. Without the inner shell used, the Large doesn't fit big on me. The cut of the jacket doesn't make y'all look like you have extra fabric hanging. Buy this jacket! I have had for five months. No regrets!

This review is an initial impression of the coat, it is non based on field use. The build quality is impressive! All the stitches are tight, seam taping is tight and there were no loose threads. I wore the coat over a t-shirt in my house for several hours. It felt smashing next to my skin! Very comfy! Commonly I detect waterproof coats feel sticky and/or damp (almost suffocating) adjacent to my skin but not this jacket. Information technology is a trivial baggy only I think that volition work for the best when layering.

This jacket saved my butt in Northward Carolina when I got caught in a freezing rain tempest on pinnacle of a mountain. Anxious most paying this amount of money for rain jacket but I'm glad I did it kept me warm and dry I would buy it again in a heartbeat

After 1 calendar week of casual apply, getting caught in a couple heavy spring rains, no longer waterproof. Today most of the surface is wetting out and interior seams at shoulders/back are wet subsequently less than x minutes in a low-cal mist. I am highly surprised at the lack of durability in a jacket marketed as a hiking pelting slice at this price point. Have mercy on any soul relying on this in the wilderness.

I bought this for twenty-four hours hikes, and high output activities. I have an Arcteryx jacket for expedition trips.

Jacket offers plenty room to permit another warm layer underneath, but didn't experience overly baggy when I wore it over a t-shirt. Different other rain jackets, this one didn't feel common cold/clammy against my bare pare, nor did information technology seem to retain a lot of heat and make me sweaty once I warmed up on hikes. It could benefit from a little additional venting under the arms and on the back--those were the places I could identify the about "warmth" every bit I walked in comparison with my arms, breast, etc.

Not bad to run across REI working with Gore-Tex to make a more affordable choice like this. Love the 3-layer fabric. The calorie-free material lining should hopefully go on the waterproof laminate in better shape over time. Older two-layer jackets that I've had would see that laminate break upwards and flake off with chafe from regular wear. The fabric lining of the laminate feels meliorate against the skin than just the laminate and should hopefully help make the jacket more durable over time.

Purchased this for a trip to rainy London. After trying a couple of other brands that did non fit my 6'-3" athletic build, I constitute this jacket. First night in London we went on a walking tour in the rain. Could not have performed improve. Dearest the hood adjustment that pulls the hood dorsum to fit your caput and non cake your view.

My REI Co-op Men'due south Drypoint GTX Jacket has kept me comfortable in cool and rainy weather. It'due south light weight makes it easy to deport.

It was somewhat expensive, simply correct at present appears to be worth it. Haven't had it in a truthful tempest situation or on a long hike, yet walking in lite rain around the neighborhood it has kept me dry and warm, so I practise not see any issues for the foreseeable future and look frontward to taking it on several through hikes in all kinds of weather!

The GTX is an absolutely solid and functional piece of wet weather gear regardless of outside temperature. I have worn this jacket in heavy weather in both temperate and tropical climates. First, I take worn the jacket several times while working during windy, moisture weather on our horse farm in Virginia. In the past couple of weeks we have had twenty caste days with sleet, snow and driving wind. Nosotros have also had warmer days with thunderstorms. The jacket performed well, both as an outer shell and solo. The GTX sheds water and the style and cutting allow for a full range of move without compromising performance. No coverage gaps. The hood is the most adaptable I accept had on a dry jacket and works just likewise with a baseball cap equally information technology does with various helmets. Second, I wore the jacket as an outer beat out at a snow tubing park where the wind was up and the snow cruel steadily throughout the day. In one case adjusted properly, the GTX makes current of air disappear. It kept me dry even though I spent a fair corporeality of time sliding over blank snow. Tertiary, I wore the GTX during a double overnight backpacking trip in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I hiked one total mean solar day in a tropical downpour and, again, was really pleased with the performance of this jacket. Pockets are cut high to articulate pack waist belts and many adjustments can be made in fit without dropping your pack. The jacket too has a very depression pack weight, something I truly capeesh every bit an ultralight enthusiast. While possibly not as tough and heavy as other similar jackets, the low-cal weight is a skillful merchandise off for me. I have five suggestions to amend an already excellent jacket. Starting time, thumb holes in the cuffs would be very helpful in keeping the sleeves secured over gloves. 2d, a chest or sleeve pocket (or both) would be very useful, as would an interior pocket. 3rd, an exterior plastic D-band or 2 would exist dandy every bit an attachment point for gloves or other light gear. Fourth, the addition of zippered mesh panels nether the artillery would exist a nice feature for warm weather venting. 5, the inclusion of a small repair kit would be neat for patching small tears or ember burn holes. Larger zipper toggles would also be a great add, specially for guys like me with big hands. All that said, and so far the GTX is the best performing dry jacket I have endemic and I highly recommend information technology.

Perhaps I was expecting too much thinking that this goretex product would go along me dry let me to stay cool. I was wrong although information technology is definitely waterproof it doesn't seem any amend than the much less expensive jackets that are not advertised every bit "breathable".if I had to make the purchase again I would probably save $200 and buy the inexpensive waterproof jacket.

This is a perfect jacket- lightweight, rainproof, breathable, and wind resistant. Love, love, love it!

Protected me from strong wind and snowfall while cross country skiing in the Rockies

I've only been able to test this jacket a few times, only then far, information technology has completely exceeded my expectations.

I've been through a few heavy rains with total dryness. Bought this to layer over a quilted vest in winter for hiking in suspect atmospheric condition and information technology should work great. Expert breathability in warm weather when hiking in humid weather condition. Good length for covering items attached to my belt (photographic camera lens). Non certain nearly the zipper; appears OK, just not very sturdy.

I just came back from a month-long trip to Australia and New Zealand using this jacket. Information technology was storming heavily on multiple occasions and this jacket e'er kept me dry out. Information technology's calorie-free and packable, which makes it very easy to throw in a backpack for the mean solar day. I highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for an exceptional product at a off-white cost betoken.

Lightweight, packable shell that keeps you dry in driving rain. Dearest the reinforced waterproof attachment and pockets. Simple, but constructive blueprint. Would like to accept seen some vents under the arms that could be open in lighter rain or after the shower passes to help diffuse some heat that builds upwards during activity. Great value!

This is a great jacket for rainy days. It provides complete protection against showers and could be used as a make-shift rain coat if information technology's pouring. The pockets are also waterproof. Nevertheless, it is not designed for ventilation, so if y'all wear it in a hot sunny day, you might sweat a lot.

I bought this way oversized so information technology tin can also be worn over my most puffy downwards coat. I tried on the competitor ones in similar mode and they could not beat the REI one for ease of motion in the arms and hood. It worked well through intense rains. The zipper system seems well built, but only time will tell.

I bought this jacket every bit my top layer in case of rain or snowfall, and it definitely got a workout! It kept my down jacket dry and warm. When I buy jackets, I similar to buy larger sizes so I can layer and keep warm. This jacket kept me dry, no sweat!

Jacket fits well, calorie-free weight and comfortable.

Splendid product for the money; lightweight, fits well, packs well, and keeps me dry in heavy rain. Hopefully, the zipper volition last at least two years. The zipper on REI rain jackets is always the weakness of the product.

Works like whatever Gortex jacket (waterproof at first, and I presume waterproof quality volition fade quickly). For the price it seems to be under-featured. What I miss: pit zips, breast pocket, and elastic at cuffs (in improver to Velcro).

Actually spent a ton of time researching and going thru diverse reviews from multiple locations. Saw a design in a few things (lack of pit zips, poor quality attachment) but this was not plenty to stop me form purchasing. When i received I was very disappointed in non just fit (I'm usually an XL in everything just this would exist 50) only quality. I mean TOTAL quality everywhere just seemed to be lacking. This is a first for me from REI products so very surprised. Practise not be fooled by the pictures. This jacket will fit and looks like a rumpled piece of nylon and the attachment is indeed poor quality. The fit and structure alone were lacking. Go that it is lightweight but this would be trashed first fourth dimension it was subjected to fifty-fifty minimal abrasion. Left tags on to render. Going back to my pricey OR rain gear.

Dear this light weight h2o proof jacket, it'southward perfect for those days it's sure to pelting and beingness it'due south light weight it's easy to behave in a day pack for those unsure days, the h2o flows off of the surface merely like water on a ducks dorsum and The hood is great it's equipped with a bill so you stay totally dry out now combine the jacket with waterproof pants and shoes you'll exist equipped for those situations weather out hiking or on holiday or even at a football game it's the jacket to accept.

Everything I wanted in a jacket- lightweight, roomy enough to fit over a sweater, practical pockets that let venting, hood fits over a cap.

Like the jacket, feels and fits really good, just can't fit a bicycle or ski helmet, possibly a depression profile climbing helmet?

This jacket is water tight and wind resistant. Had it for1 calendar month-will give it 5 stars if it holds up over time.

Great light weight. better for cold sprig and rainy day

No pit zips! What!? $250 and no pit zips is ridiculous. No rain jacket keeps you lot dry nether exertion because yous sweat, and they all vesture out across the shoulders and tiptop of the back. And then it's $250 for a coop production that is good in rain for a year, then becomes a low-cal shower or wind breaker. Go a Precip made by you lot know who.

The jacket is fabled, save for the hood control. These cords that only piece of work if yous tighten them around your face go far unpleasant and it is hard to admission with only ii easily. Possibly I will have to mutate.

Gave this jacket a good exam hiking downwardly from the Tank Lakes in light rain for 4 hours. Even though I was hiking down hill, information technology was strenuous off trail duty and I was a bit over dressed for the first 60 minutes and sweating. Bush-wacking thru heavy wet castor before reaching the Necklace Valley. Got to the lesser of the Necklace Valley startup and information technology stopped raining. Took of the rain jacket and I was completely dry inside. Bang-up jacket!

Was tired of either getting moisture or sweating. This jacket finds a happy medium and keeps my dry while breathing very well. Terrific jacket for long, exposed hikes.

For the cost, you can't beat out this. I've worn information technology all over the earth in rain, snow, and just flat out bad weather. Great jacket that does what it says. I have to say I love that REI partnered with Gore! Seriously corking value. Why spend the coin on a "make" name when you can buy this? Highly recommend.

This is a great jacket. I use it for work and has kept me dry out. I piece of work equally an arborist and the clothes I wear have a beating. This jacket has no signs of clothing all the same and it also breathes fairly well even though it has no pit zips. Overall I enjoy this jacket and flake will be office of my kit for the AT.

Bought with my annual 20% off. Btw, in that location were better deals afterwards. Jacket fit so well and the brilliant orange and so drivers would run across me walking dog that I just had to buy information technology. Doesn't accept pit zips, just front pockets unzip and mesh pockets open airflow. Very breathable fabric.

Got this jacket merely in time for a spell of very rainy weather. It kept me completely dry out. It is roomy enough to wear a fleece nether information technology. I really like the adjustable hood. I was able to adjust it on the fly and it fit perfectly. Very pleased with this purchase!

Awesome jacket for the price but a little heavy for warmer conditions, needs pit zips, and Medium and Big sizes in common colors were sold out at two REIs in AZ

I'chiliad 6" and 165 lbs and One thousand is style too big for me. I should accept gone with small. Autonomously from that it looks like a nice jacket.

The rain coat seams and the zipper seal works well.

I take only worn it while purchasing. I won't really know the quality until this coming Winter.
